Despite what many people believe, Havana is much more than simply Old Havana. In this tour Cuba Direct will take you in a panoramic tour that will include the most important places no one should miss in a visit to this city. The tour will start at 8:00 am with a panoramic tour along the sea wall drive. The "Malecon", as Cubans know it, stretches from El Castillo de la Punta to the 1830 Restaurant and was built in different sections from 1902 on. Important places are located facing the sea: the Palacio de las Cariatides, today the Centro Cultural Iberocubano, Hotel Deauville, Antonio Maceo Park, and Hotel Nacional among others. The "Malecon" has been a meeting place for Cubans ever since its inauguration to gather, talk and fall in love to the sound of the Caribbean Sea.
After crossing the Tunel de Linea the car will go along the 5th Avenue and its famous promenade cut by the Tower of the Russian embassy rising as a symbol of a past power. The car will continue to La Marina Hemingway, a tourist complex in the west of Havana dedicated to Hemingway's passion for fishing. Apart from the numerous rental apartments, bars, restaurants and discos, the Marina Hemingway has a great dock where people can anchor their yachts for short stays or even for whole seasons. The Marina Hemingway is also famous for its international marlin fishing tournament also dedicated to the author of "Farewell to Arms".
After this visit, the car will first drive you to the Colon cemetery, one of the most artistically and historically important in America, and then to the Revolution square where you will have a short stop for picture taking. In this area, important government administration buildings are located as well as the National Library also dedicated to National Hero Jose Marti.
The tour continues along Carlos III Avenue towards Old Havana with another picture taking stop in the Capitol building, once the Seat of the National Congress and now of the Science Academy.
The next stop will be in Terrazas de Cojimar. Hemingway knew of this place from his friend and skipper Gregorio Fuentes, and it was here where he knew Anselmo Hernandez, the fisherman he described in The Old Man and the Sea.
Finally, the car will take you to an All Inclusive day in Hotel Atlantico to enjoy hotel services and the beach.
