There's more great news to come out of the "Pearl of the Caribbean" this week, as the Regis Mystique by Royalton is said to be re-opening in La Habana Vieja, the Cuban capital's stunning historic quarter. Read on and find out more!
Havana - one of the world's great cities
Not content with being one of the world's most vibrant cities, Havana is also one of the most important culturally too.
If you're interested in history, you can get lost wandering the old streets, gazing at the magnificent baroque and neo-classical architecture, and imagining what this place would have been like 500 years ago under Spanish rule.
Dating from 1519, "La Habana Vieja" (Old Havana), the Spanish name for the Old Quarter, is rightly on the UNESCO World Heritage List, because of its unique baroque and neoclassical architecture, its fortifications, and its historical importance as a stopping place on the way back from the New World for treasure-laden Spanish galleons.
Yes, this city isn't just about, mojitos, salsa dancing, and classic American cars. Thousands of holidaymakers each year are amazed at the fact that you can take a break from the live music, the bars, restaurants, and cafes, the beaches and the dancing - all to feast your eyes on some of the most beautiful architecture anywhere in the Caribbean!
Another new option in an old part of town
Bearing all this in mind, Old Havana is obviously a fantastic location to have a hotel. What's more, since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent re-opening of many of Cuba's hotels and resorts, the accommodation options all over Havana are genuinely great!
The Regis Mystique by Royalton is perfectly located at the junction of Paseo del Prado and Colon and is now managed by the Canadian company Blue Diamond.
Miguel Garcia, Communications Director of Blue Diamond, recently stated in an interview with Radio Reloj, that the hotel should be ready to fully open to welcome travellers in August this year when it will operate under the Mystique by Royalton brand.
The ethos of the brand is to offer the guests a completely personalised experience as well as a service befitting the high standards of luxury and exclusivity.
Regis Hotel, a little bit more history!
Originally built in 1909, the building that the Regis Hotel occupies first functioned as a guesthouse and business office.
In 1943 it began its life as accommodation for travellers, right up until the 1990s. Now with its scheduled reopening, travellers wanting to explore Havana will have yet another new and excellent accommodation option for those who choose to travel to this wonderful Caribbean destination.
It's no wonder that Cuba ranks as the top holiday destination in the whole of the Caribbean!
